What is a Fine Art Print?

Fine Art print uses a high-definition technique based on pigment inks and premium papers, that makes it possible to produce high-quality art prints. These prints can resist to light and fading (up to 200 years). This top level of quality is also known as “Museum Quality”.

Fine Art prints are usualy edited in Limited Edition (LE).

What is a Limited Edition?

Limited Edition means that there will only ever be a pre-determined number of prints produced of each photograph.

Once the edition sells out, there will never be another reprint of that photograph. By definition the photographs are rare and valuable for any collector.

Limited are exclusive, one-of-a-kind images that have been hand selected and signed by Gérald WILLIG.

First Printing

I withhold the First Printing of each piece in the collection to keep for myself, or to be offered as the very last print sold of that Limited Edition. The First Printings can now be purchased in advance of the selection selling out.

As with Artist Proofs, First Printing’s also carry a higher value and will increase in value at a faster rate than pieces from the body of the collection itself. That's why First Printing pieces require a superior investment above the standard pricing.

To be sure that your selected piece is available, please contact me directly to receive an invoice for purchase.

Artist's Proofs

Artist's Proofs are traditionally a quantity of prints (normally 10% of the edition) reserved for the artist and are numbered separately from the rest of the edition.

Is the art signed?

Yes. Each Limited Edition artwork features a signature and edition number on the face of the artwork and a signed Certificate of Authenticity . A specific register is kept up to date by the artist himself for each sale. It allows, if necessary, to carry out any necessary verification.

Do you authenticate the artwork?

Yes, a signed Certificate of Authenticity is provided with the purchase of your artwork. A specific register is kept up to date by the artist himself for each sale. It allows, if necessary, to carry out any necessary verification.

Why does the price of the artwork change over time?

Gérald WILLIG Fine Art Limited Editions prints are produced in a pre-determined edition size. As demand for one of Gerald’s Fine Art Photographs goes up, so does the price. Collecting early guarantees you are also receiving the most competitive pricing available.

What size can I order my Limited Edition artwork?

The finished size of each photograph is dependent on the final size you have selected among the different available options on this website. There’s a minimum of 1” outside white border on all prints that acts as a seamless mat (with the exception of custom special on demand printing like Acrylic Prints). This leaves a border around the image providing room to mount and frame it.

Can I order a custom-sized Limited Edition artwork?

Custom sizes are available for all of Gérald WILLIG’s print editions, for more information please contact him via email by simply visiting the contact page.

Can I frame my artwork?

Yes of course! We recommend that all images be mounted by experienced professionals.

Ideally handle your photograph with white cotton gloves. Ensure that your photograph is cold mounted only. We recommend mounting on a completely smooth, high-quality, dimensionally stable substrate. For best results, use a solvent acrylic adhesive with built-in UV inhibitors. Please be aware that mounting your photograph on a softer surface like foam core will increase the likelihood of the photograph developing orange peel, or subtle dimpling, on the surface.

Please know that if your Gérald WILLIG Fine Art Edition Print is damaged from handling or during the mounting process, Gérald WILLIG is not liable for the damage or replacement costs. Be sure to use a reputable and insured frame shop to mount or frame your photograph.
