The F6F-5 Hellcat 'Minsi III' was assigned to Commanding Officer (C. O.) Commander David McCampbell. With 'Minsi III' McCampbell scored his eleventh to thirty-third and a half aerial victory claims between September 12, 1944 until November 14, 1944 (the last 23½ of his 34 kills) and became the U.S. Navy's highest scoring ace in World War II.

In the Battle of the Philippine Sea, nicknamed the "Great Marianas Turkey Shoot," Navy fighter pilots shot down nearly 300 enemy aircraft in one day.

F6Fs shot down 5,216 Axis aircraft in 24 months and compiled an enviable kill ratio of 19:1. All told, the F6F produced more fighter aces, those with five or more aerial kills, than any other aircraft of World War II.

Incredibly accurate color reproduction, outstanding image clarity, and enhanced detail in darker areas distinguish each print.

On fine art papers, higher black density renders even the finest shadow detail, for a print that becomes a work of art.

The professional pigment inks offer accurate reproduction and enhanced print longevity.

Pictures are reproduced at an ultra-high resolution for an outstanding quality with premium pigment inks and museum grade papers.

By example for the prints made by Gerald WILLIG himself, on Hahnemühle papers, Fine Art Prints have a resolution of 2400 dpi horizontally* x 1200 dpi vertically.

* Prints with a minimum 1/2400 inch dot pitch between ink droplets

The finished size of each photograph is dependent on the final size you have selected among the different available options on this website. There’s a minimum of 1” outside white border on all prints that acts as a seamless mat (with the exception of custom special on demand printing like Acrylic Prints). This leaves a border around the image providing room to mount and frame it.
